Spirituality is a very personal phenomenon that exists in the dynamic relationship between an individual and her/his understanding of God. Meditation, prayer, fasting/cleansing, study and other spiritual disciplines can all be a part of an individual's spiritual life. At Basliea: An Open Door Community of Christ, we also encourage the exploration of spirituality in dyadic relationships and small groups.

Once each month, we gather for a time of interpersonal spiritual dialogue. In these encounters, we seek to better understand our relationship with God by making contact with the spiritual awareness of another.

Song of the Seed

We are currently using the book, The Song of the Seed : A Monastic Way of Tending the Soul by Macrina Wiederkehr. In this book, Wiederkehr, a sought-after teacher and workshop leader, draws on the resources of Benedictine spirituality to guide readers through three phases of spiritual reflection: bending "to the dance of wholehearted surrender"; mending, the healing from life's wounds; and tending, making use of gifts and talents.

In addition, spiritual counseling is available from members of our ministerial community. For further information, contact us.

Our Welcoming Statememt

In working to bring about the realm of God, Basileia: An Open Door Community of Christ values diversity and celebrates those differences as intentional acts of God's creation. In that the realm of God includes all persons, we welcome and include all persons including persons of all sexual orientations, gender identities and family units in the full life of the congregation.
